- Eighth place in the second race
Race 1
As usual, the field of drivers was very close together in the first qualifying of the weekend. Porsche factory driver Mathieu Jaminet secured the second row on the grid for Saturday’s race with the third fastest lap time in the Porsche 911 GT3 R. Things went according to plan until the safety car in the 41st minute. Then Michael Ammermüller had to defend his position and tried to close the gap to the runner-up. Finally, the duo celebrated the podium.
Race 2
Michael Ammermüller maneuvered the starting number 92 into twelfth place in qualifying and thus into the same starting row as the championship leaders.
During the first half hour, the reigning champion managed to advance to the eighth position. Mathieu Jaminet finished the race on that place and got valuable points for the championship fight. There are 17 points between the Munich team and the current leaders.
The last ADAC GT Masters weekend will take place from November 5th to 7th at the iconic Nürburgring.
Wolfgang Hatz, Team Principal SSR Performance
“On Sunday it was certainly not a dream result. We scored a total of 25 points and thus missed our goal a bit, but we are still going to the Nürburgring with confidence. Last year it was similar and in the end we were able to win the championship successfully. That’s why there is now full concentration on the final.”
Stefan Schlund, Team Owner SSR Performance
“It was definitely not an easy weekend. Still, we have to be satisfied with the number of points. We all look excitedly towards the Nürburgring. We will prepare the car and the technology for the final. Last year we also came as third positioned, we are motivated until the last day. Everything can happen!”
Michael Ammermüller, SSR Performance driver
“I’m not entirely satisfied with the weekend because we wanted to close the gap to the leader. The pace wasn’t quite there. We suffered damage in the Sunday race, otherwise we could have scored more points. Nevertheless, we are still in the fight for the title. In my opinion, we’re a little stronger at the Nürburgring. But luck has to be on our side.”
Mathieu Jaminet, SSR Performance driver
“We knew it would be difficult in Sunday’s race with the damage we received at the start of the race. This made it impossible to catch up with our opponents any further. At the Nürburgring we definitely have to win and take more risks.”
