Munich, 30 September 2020 – After two victories in the ADAC GT Masters 2020, the SSR Performance GmbH team travels to the fourth race weekend at the Sachsenring as the championship leader of the team classification. Michael Ammermüller and Christian Engelhart have so far not only been able to establish themselves with their SSR Porsche 911 GT3 R in the top leaderboard of what is arguably the toughest series for GT sports cars, they are also only four points behind the top in second place in the drivers’ standings. The second half of the championship season now begins with the upcoming races 7 and 8 at the Sachsenring (October 2nd – 4th).
The fast and experienced GT racing drivers Michael Ammermüller and Christian Engelhart, who take turns at the steering wheel of the up to 550 hp strong SSR Porsche 911 GT3 R on the weekends of the ADAC GT Masters, managed to move in into the leaderboard of the ADAC GT Masters 2020 right from the start of the season. Two season victories plus one second and fourth place made SSR Performance to conquer the lead of the team standings.
“We would certainly not have dreamed of that at the beginning of the season,” said Stefan Schlund, Managing Director of SSR Performance GmbH from Munich, summarizing the season so far. Team boss Wolfgang Hatz emphasizes: “Even after the two victories on Saturday at the Nürburg- and Hockenheimring, we will continue to work even harder. Especially with regard to the respective second races on Sunday we still have room for improvement, we just have to collect more points. ”
Christian Engelhart looks forward to the upcoming GT Masters race weekend: “The Sachsenring is a pretty narrow, twisty track in the first sector, then there is a real high-speed passage where you have several fast corners in a row –
the whole thing is like one kind of roller coaster or a small Nürburgring-Nordschleife. I’ve had a lot of positive experiences there over the past few years and I’m really looking forward to it!” Michael Ammermüller sums up his wishes: “Rain wouldn’t be bad because we could fully exploit the traction advantage of our Porsche.”
German tv station Sport1 broadcasts the races live on Saturday (3 October) and Sunday (3 October) from 1:00 p.m. As a service for fans, SSR Performance offers an exclusive online shop (www.ssr-performance.de/shop).
